General Questions.
Q: How many times is my student allowed to check out/come in late?
A: Students are allowed FOUR parent checkouts or tardies per semester; students are allowed unlimited checkouts if a doctor’s excuse is turned in. These notes are separate from notes for unexcused full-day absences.
Q: How many parent notes can I use for my student’s absences?
A: Parents are allowed an excuse for THREE full days per semester. Once the student has used their three parent notes, they will be considered unexcused until there is a note presented from a medical professional.
Q: How should students turn in their excuse notes?
A: A student may turn in their excuse to the attendance office upon their return to school. Notes can be emailed directly to Ms. Blankenship ablankenship@bradleyschools.org or Mr. Borders dborders@bradleyschools.org.
Q: What is the Tier Intervention Program?
A: The Intervention program is designed to make parents aware of their students' absences. All students start in TIER I. Once a student reaches 5 unexcused absences, the parent/guardian will meet with the attendance director and a member of the Bradley County juvenile center to discuss the problem and sign a TIER II contract. If a student receives another unexcused absence after the TIER II has been signed, they will be moved to TIER III which is campus court.
Q: My student turned in notes for absence, but they are not showing up on my ParentVue account.
A: The ParentVue and Synergy programs do not always sync when absences are changed from unexcused to excused. Please allow 24 school hours for the note to be entered in the system and updated in ParentVue. If you have any questions about your students' attendance record after that time frame, please contact us.
Q: How do I acquire the letter my student needs to obtain his/her driver’s license?
A: Your student may stop by the attendance office to request a copy.
Q. How many unexcused absences or tardies can students receive before being unable to attend prom?
A. If a student has accumulated ten (10) or more unexcused absences, 10 unexcused check-ins/unexcused checkouts (as recorded in the Daily Absence Report) or 10 tardies for the year, he/she will be ineligible to attend the prom.
Q: How does my student sign in Late/Tardy?
A: Whether being dropped off or driving themselves, students will enter the main doors
and go through the office and around to the attendance office before going to class. We
will help them get signed in and scan their ID to log them as entering campus and give
them a slip for their teachers.
Q: How do I check my student out?
A: If your student is a driver, email wvhscheckouts@bradleyschools.org with the
student name, and time they need to leave. Be sure to send the email from the email
address we have on file. If you need to change or update the email address we have on
file please call us or the guidance office.
If your student is not a driver, the person signing them out will come to the student
checkout window with your ID and cell phone. Scan the QR code to sign your student(s)
out, ring doorbell if we don’t come the window and pass us your ID through the window.
We will verify you are on the students pick up list and call them down to attendance to
be scanned out.
No matter how a student is checked out we will always ask them to come through the
attendance office to have their ID scanned and be logged that they are leaving campus.
We will also give the student a green slip to show the gate guard to get out of the gate.
