Student News November 4th - November 7th
-Flag football tryouts that were originally scheduled to start today have been postponed. Tryouts will now be held on November 13th and November 20th. See Coach Pope or Mrs. Barnes with any questions.
-The football game for this Friday, 11/7, has been moved to Thursday 11/6, evening

-Rehearsals for the spring musical begin this week. If you are a part of the cast of "The Prince of Egypt" please check your school email for an email from Mr. Rowland about this week's rehearsals including the first read-through, which is today from 3:45 - 6:00 in the choir room.
-All students who applied to be crew members for the spring musical, The Prince of Egypt, should go to the choir room at the end of the day to pick up a teacher recommendation form. If you have questions, see Mrs. Limburg in B111.
-Seniors, the senior 2026 photo will be taken on Tuesday, November 4 at 11:20 am at the stadium.

- Students, do you need service hours? North Lee Elementary is seeking volunteers to assist with their fall festival next Saturday, November 8, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. If you are interested, contact information is available on the front counter in the main office. - The 2025 Food Drive begins next Monday, and collections will be taken during 1st block. As always, the winning class will receive a free breakfast so start planning your strategy today and let's make this a big year for Walker Valley's contributions!
Student News October 20th - October 24th
-Attention World Languages Club members! The October meeting is next Thursday, October 30th in the Media Center. The emphasis for this meeting will be German Culture. Make plans to attend.
-Today is the day! Auditions for the spring musical, The Prince of Egypt, begin today at 3:45 p.m. Auditions are on a first come, first served basis and we want to see YOU there. Scan the QR code in the hall before or after school to access audition materials! If you sing, act, dance, do all three, or have no experience in any, we want you to audition! There is a place for everyone in spring musical!
-Monday – Kickoff for Digital Citizenship: This week is Digital Citizenship Week — a time to think about how we act, share, and connect online. Remember, everything you post is a reflection of who you are, so make it positive and purposeful.
-Tuesday – Think Before You Post: Before you post, text, or comment, take a second to think: Is it true? Is it kind? Is it something you’d say face-to-face? Once something is online, it can be shared or saved forever.
-Wednesday – Be Kind Online: Words have power — both online and in person. Choose kindness in comments, messages, and posts, because you never know what someone else is going through.
-Thursday-Protect Your Privacy: Be smart about what you share online. Keep personal info such as your address, passwords, and school details private, and only connect with people you know and trust.
Student News October 13th - October 17th
-Tennis Tryouts will be held on Thursday, October 23. Girls' tryouts will be from 4:00-5:15 pm and boys will try out from 5:30-6:45 pm.
-There will be an informational meeting on Monday, October 20 from 3:45-4:00 in the cafeteria for anyone interested in trying out for the archery team.
-Colleges and universities will be visiting throughout the year during lunch to share information and answer questions about their programs. The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, will be in the cafeteria today during lunch, and the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga, is scheduled to visit on Friday, October 17th. Be sure to stop by during lunch to learn more about what these schools have to offer!

Student News September 22th - September 26th
Bradley County Schools is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable environment for all students, families, and fans at our athletic events. To enhance security and ensure a smoother entry process, we are implementing a Clear Bag Policy at all school sporting events beginning this week. To learn more about this policy, please refer to the flyer sent home today in CCR or the text message being sent on Thursday afternoon.
Murder, Mayhem, and Two Sweet Old Ladies: Come see Walker Valley’s very own Act One present Joseph Kessellring’s play, Arsenic and Old Lace. Showtimes are: October 16-19. Evening showtimes start at 7pm, and the matinee on Saturday starts at 1pm, while the Sunday matinee starts at 2pm. Tickets at the door are $10 for adults and $5 for students. We hope to see you there.
Looking for a sweet treat to end the week? Key Club will be selling Krispy Kreme doughnuts this Friday at the Stable. Single doughnuts will cost $2, and a dozen will cost $14

-Faculty and underclass yearbook pictures will be taken on October 1st in the auditorium. Picture packages are prepaid. You should have received an order form in your CCR class. If you did not, you can pick one up in the main office or G114. There is no charge for having your photo made for the yearbook only. Each teacher will have a copy of the schedule, and the times will be posted throughout the building. Faculty pictures will start at 7:30.
-The Oceanography Club will have the first meeting next Tuesday (Sept. 23rd) in the auditorium during CCR. Anyone interested, including students who have previously been members, must fill out the application form. They can be found on the wall (in folders) outside Mrs. Swafford's room (B214). Please bring the form and the dues to the meeting if you have not already turned them in.
-Calling all Walker Valley students! Veterans Day is a time to honor the brave men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. This year, we invite YOU to share your voice and perspective by writing an essay about the impact of Veterans Day. This Veterans Day Writing contest is an opportunity to: Share your personal perspective and creativity, Reflect on the meaning of Veterans Day and what it means to our state and community, and Top essays will be recognized at the Walker Valley Veterans Day assembly, with one participant being recognized at the Governor’s Veterans Day Program in Nashville. This is your chance to use your words to honor those who served—and to make your voice heard. Start writing today and be part of something meaningful this Veterans Day! Student News September 15th - September 19th
-Football tickets for Friday’s game are on sale in the main office for $5 each. There are only 75 tickets available. If you purchase at the gate, you must be accompanied by a parent.
-We are so excited for our Homecoming Dance this Saturday! Tickets are available in the Stable for $25 until 3:00 PM this Friday. Please remember that tickets will NOT be sold at the dance, so don’t wait to get yours. The dance will be held on our football field from 7:00 to 10:00 PM. This is a semi-formal event for WV students only. We will have a DJ, a 360 photo booth, and concessions available (cash only). Students, if you purchased a ticket, please ensure you have a school ID. If you have lost your ID or if your ID is defaced- please purchase a new one in the media center. You will need your school ID and ticket to enter the dance. Lastly, if you purchased a presale ticket, please stop by Mrs. Scoggins’ room in B209 TODAY to pick up your ticket.

Our guest speaker will be Issaac Vargas, an alumnus of Walker Valley and presently a project engineer at Wacker Chemical. Join us for an unforgettable night under the lights on September 20th, from 7–10 PM, right on our football field. This semi-formal dance is open to Walker Valley students only. This trip is open to all DECA students. More information about the trip will be given at the DECA meeting next Tuesday during CCR in the Media Center, and applications and teacher recommendation forms are due by next Friday, September 19th. HOSA and Blood Assurance are hosting the fall blood drive on Wednesday, September 17 to raise awareness for childhood cancer. Please see Mrs. Norman in CTE 102 to sign up. Donors must be 16 with a guardian's signature or older. Help us win the Cup of Courage by having the most donors and competing against our across-town rivals, Bradley and Cleveland. You can earn cords for graduation, win a $5 card to the Stable, and SAVE LIVES!!

It is almost that time - HOMECOMING in the Valley! On Friday, during CCR, all students will have the opportunity to nominate grade-level peers to the Homecoming court. This will ONLY happen during CCR, and will ONLY be open for a ten-minute window! Teachers will display a grade-level QR code on their boards, and students will be allowed to use their phones for 10 minutes to make the nominations. Between now and CCR on Friday, be thinking about who you would like to represent your class on the Homecoming court so you are ready to go when Dr. Jones gives the OK!
If you were inducted into the NHS last school year, or are a current member, please stop by Mrs. McChesney's room to grab your new hour sheet AND a parent permission form. Dues are also being collected this month, so please stop by to see Mrs. McChesney in B205 or Mrs. Lindeman in B207 to pay. Our first meeting will be on September 25th.
-The first DECA meeting will be on September 16th during CCR in the Media Center. We will be introducing our Officer Team, discussing club activities and competitions, and giving information for the Sports and Entertainment Marketing Conference in Orlando, FL. You do not have to be a business student to join DECA, so make sure to grab an application if you're interested. Applications must be turned in prior to attending the first meeting. -Sophomores and Juniors who are interested in taking the PSAT-NMSQT here at school on October 22 should sign up in the Counseling Office by September 5. The cost is $20. If you plan to sign up and have a 504 plan, IEP, or ILP with test accommodations, please see Mrs. Kier today.
-Seniors, do you want to kick off your senior year in style? Here’s your chance to paint your assigned parking spot and show off your creativity for the whole school to see! If you are interested in painting your assigned parking spot, please visit Ms. Webb in G109 to obtain a sign-up form. The cost is $20, and the deadline to turn in the fee and design proposal is September 4th at 3:30 to Mrs. Webb.
