Meet the Band Director...

Mr. Benton has been a Cleveland resident since 2004. He graduated in 2005 with a Bachelors in Music Education from Lee University and began teaching in 2006 at McMinn County High School. In 2008, he began his tenure at Walker Valley High School, where he currently serves as Band Director and General Music Teacher. Mr. Benton works with the Freshmen Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Ocoee Middle School Concert Bands, various Percussion Ensembles, The Walker Valley Mustang Marching Band, and Chamber Ensembles. He received his Masters in Educational Leadership from Lee University in 2009 and has a desire to possibly be a principal one day. 
 
Donald has served on the East Tennessee School Band & Orchestra Association Board for the last 4 years as the Lower Area Representative and he is the Rooming Coordinator for the All State East Honor Band & Orchestra. He is a member of Tennessee Music Education Association, National Association for Music Education, and American School Band Director's Association. Mr. Benton has conducted honor bands in East Tennessee and North Carolina and has been a marching band adjudicator for various competitions across Tennessee.
 
Mr. Benton and his wife Sarah are the parents to Ava and Liam. He enjoys playing golf, watching sports, and chasing his kids.
