About me

Christian Mann has been teaching for a total of 20 years, 15 of which have been here at Walker Valley. In that time he has taught every Social Studies subject the school offers (with the exception of Sociology) and is also certified to teach AP World and European History, AP Psychology, AP Human Geography, and the International Baccalaureate course Theory of Knowledge. For the 2020-2021 school year Christian will be teaching all levels of World History from standard through AP and AP Human Geography.

In 2000 Christian graduated from Lee University with a Bachelors in History and a Political Science minor; he then pursued his Master of Arts in Teaching, graduating in 2001, and completed additional graduate work in the field of Special Education through 2003.

This year Christian celebrated his 22nd year of marriage to Janna Mann, whom he met at Lee University but had a prior connection they later discovered: his wife's sister taught him math at the high school from which he graduated in Baton Rouge! Christian and Janna have three children: one in college (Gabe 19), one at Walker Valley (Myles 16), and one at OMS (Karleigh 11).

Outside of teaching and his family, Christian has two primary interests that occupy most of his time: music and exercise (primarily running and yoga). Christian's band, MondayNightSocial, has had quite a bit of success in the Chattanooga area winning 2017's Road to Nightfall competition, releasing a music video in 2018 that has been viewed almost 30,000 times on FB alone, and playing shows in several cities including: Charleston, Baton Rouge, Savannah, Atlanta, Nashville, Knoxville, and several other smaller cities. If you're interested in learning more about his band visit their website at www.MondayNightSocial.com, listen to them on any music streaming platform, or check out their YouTube and social media pages!
